Cool or uncool?
We know it when we see it. That's the best description we can come up with for determining what vintage cars and trucks are cool or uncool. But that means our determinations are totally up for debate, and you may completely disagree.
Take a look at these seven vehicles that are currently for sale on eBay and let us know what you think: cool or uncool?

1999 Plymouth Prowler
The Plymouth Prowler is a textbook case of show over go. It looked amazing when it made its debut in the '90s. And Plymouth put as much of the show car into production as possible, even the trailer, like you can see with this bright red 1999 example. But under its hot rod-inspired body is a... sufficient V6 coupled solely to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Both of those components are not what you want in your reborn hot rod. But! The body around those mechanicals is a stunner, both when it came out and today. The open wheel front end and the fat rear are things you'll never see from a mass-market manufacturer ever again. And it has cool mechanical parts, too, such as a rear transaxle for better weight distribution and a body and frame fashioned primarily out of aluminum. That's pretty special, and definitely helps to justify this car's price of $38,995. -

1990 Dodge Dakota Convertible
One of the big appeals of the Jeep Gladiator, besides having Wrangler-esque off-road capability, is that it's a pickup truck that can you can take the top off (and the doors and windshield). But it's far from the first to apply the convertible treatment to a pickup. Decades ago, Dodge created a convertible version of the Dakota compact pickup. It was a pretty well-done convertible, too, as the soft top fit the boxy profile of the truck very well. And it was a lot less involved than the top on the Gladiator. This 1990 Dodge Dakota convertible pickup truck in blue is a particularly clean example complete with a five-speed manual transmission. And at $14,995, it's way cheaper than the $35,040 base Jeep Gladiator. -

1987 Oldsmobile 442
By the time 1987 rolled around, the Oldsmobile 442 was a mere shell of its former glorious self. This example has but 307 cubic inches underhood, pushing out a wheezy 170 horsepower. And yet, despite its distinct lack of performance cred, this '87 Olds has a classic silhouette, a wonderful color scheme, and extremely low mileage. It's currently listed for $28,500. -

1986 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible
On the surface, this looks like a deeply uncool car. But look again! This Chrysler LeBaron convertible is a perfect woodgrain time capsule. It's powered by a turbocharged 2.2-liter engine mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, which somehow seems perfectly appropriate for this car.
It's got 66,000 miles and change, and it's offered for $10,995.

1985 AMC Eagle
What's this? Another AMC! This 1985 AMC Eagle piques our interest because it predates four-wheel-drive wagons like the Subaru Outback by more than a decade. It's basically a Jeep underneath the woodgrain bodywork, with an inline-six-cylinder engine under the hood and a rugged shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system.
This particular car shows 132,000 miles but looks like it's been kept in really good condition. It's currently listed for $13,900.

1984 Dodge Rampage
Americans love pickup trucks. Fullsizers like the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 are consistently the best-selling vehicles in America, and models like the Ford Ranger and new Jeep Gladiator show that smaller trucks have some real appeal, too. But this Dodge Rampage is something altogether different. It's a unibody truck with a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine powering the front wheels. This one looks to be in very good condition, and it's currently listed for $7,995. -

1978 AMC Pacer
Depending on your age, you might be familiar with the AMC Pacer solely because it was featured in Waynes World. And that kinda sorta makes it cool. This particular version's woodgrain trim ratchets up the shabby cool factor, and it's in really good condition with just 27,400 miles showing on the odometer. It's currently listed for $16,500.
