Ken Block building a new Escort Cosworth rally car to race across the world

His original Escort RS Cosworth burned up after a crash

Ken Block, sadly, rolled his Ford Escort Cosworth rally car while racing a few months ago, but it looks like the a one is coming soon. Block's original Escort burned to a crisp after the accident, explaining the need for an entirely new car.

The announcement for the new car comes from Block himself on his Facebook page. He says it will be an entirely new build and will also improve on his old Escort. Block raced that car in the American Rally Association series before the crash. This time, he says he's going to be taking it on a world tour in 2019 and putting the Escort through its paces on rally stages across the globe. Of course, Gymkhana videos similar to all the outrageous shoots he's done already aren't out of the question either.

His crispy Cossie had a turbocharged four-cylinder making 350 horsepower, attached to a seven-speed gearbox. The new one will also be a Group A style rally car, so we expect plenty of power for the new creation as well. As far as the silhouette that Block teased here, the bodywork and aero looks identical to the old one. We're always pumped to see the next Ken Block drift-tacular video come out — seeing a rally-focused one with the Escort Cosworth would be glorious too. If you want to see his latest, check out this one here, where Block tears up the Goodwood estate in England.
